Happy Birthday, Me! Pictures, Pictures Galore!

This past Sunday was my 25th birthday. Kimi planned this very cute (and lowkey) party for me. I got to spend time with my friends, eat more jello shots than what was probably responsible, rapped like a gangsta at karaoke, and watched Miriam uppercut the couch cushions. If there’s way to turn 25, this was definitely the way.

Thank you to the people who came and those who wished me a happy birthday!

Happy Belated Birthday, Caroline!

I know this is a little late, but my friend, Caroline, just celebrated her 22nd birthday this past Friday. She’s the stylist who got rid of my hideous middle part and has now given me a fun faux-hawk some cool blonde highlights. Happy birthday!

Schemes and Consequences Hits Up Tropics Cafe for Open Mic Night!

Slight change in plans last night. Instead of Mad Dog’s, Helena and I made our debut at Tropics Cafe (located near Ward Theaters) for their Open Mic night. Didn’t know how it was gonna go, but we were thankfully well received by the crowd. The band before us played Reggae music and I’ve heard before that Tropics is known for their live Hawaiian music, so I didn’t know how we’d fit in there. The cool thing is that we didn’t quite fit, but everyone liked us anyway, especially when Helena busted out the Snoop Dogg rap from “Gin and Juice” during our medley.

This really cool classic Hawaiian band went on after us. I tried searching for them on the Tropics Cafe myspace friends, but no luck. It was a trio and all they had really beautiful voices. The lead singer on ukelele was my favorite, though, because he knew how to shake his thang!

We were able to make arrangements to play there again next week. I’ll post all the details as soon as I have ‘em. We’ve got some cheesy pop music gems ready to go.

Acoustic Open Mic – Mad Dog’s Saloon TONIGHT!

If you’re free tonight, Schemes and Consequences will be performing a 45 minute set tonight at Mad Dog’s Saloon in Waikiki for their Acoustic Open Mic Night! We’ll be playing “I’m Your Gin and Juice” (check out the video above) and lots of other emo-tastic pop hits.

Hopefully The Bipolar Quartet (Kevin and Rob from Screeming Weener) will also be performing tonight. I really, REALLY love their version of Rancid’s “Ruby Soho.”

There’s no cover. It’s just 21 and up. If you come early enough, there’s lots of room to hang out.

See you tonight!

Drink specials tonight: $3 Stella Draft, $3 Bud Light, $3 Jagermeister.

Shaka, brah.
