Scare Yourself at Blaisdell’s Shockhouse!

Shockhouse will be held at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall on Ward Avenue. It started yesterday and goes through next week Saturday (November 1st). I’ve been telling my friends for weeks now that I want to go to this thing. That’s hopefully given them enough time to calm their nerves and be prepared for 10 rooms of craziness.

From the Advertiser:
“Ten rooms of monsters and mayhem will provide ample thrills and chills. The spectacles have such themes as “The Gruesome Graveyard, ” “‘Vertigo’ Insane Asylum,” “‘Saw’ Torture Chamber,” “Emily Rose’s Bedroom,” “Armageddon,” “The Crypt,” “The Autopsy,” “The Grudge,” “Death Row” and “Evil Clowns.””

Beware! Bigfoot is Coming to Hawaii!

Guess who’s coming to Hawaii?? Bigfoot! Well, sorta. This Saturday (October 25th), my friends down at Split Obsession are hosting a solo show for the mysterious Bigfoot artist. If you get a chance, you should definitely check it out. He’ll be selling some limited shirts, silkscreen prints, and a 9″ Tiki figure to add to your toy collection!

Even if you can’t make it, you should at least stop by the store! The owners are super sweet and they have some of the coolest toys on the island! 99% of my toy collection has come from Split Obsession. Maybe I’ll post a picture later.

Anyway, If you go, tell them Kristel sent you. If they ask which one, say the chubby cheeked one with glasses!

Gourmet Hot Dogs at Hank’s Haute Dogs – Not Just Your Regular Dog!

You know what’s the best? Discovering (by accident) a good place to eat. Today my friend and I had decided on getting food from Leo’s Taverna in downtown, but had to change plans (twice) when we couldn’t find parking and traffic was too bad.

“How about a hot dog?” he asked me. “What about Hank’s?”

I can’t say no to a hot dog, so I googled the address on my phone and we headed to Coral street.  I had heard of Hank’s Haute Dogs before, but never tried it. We parked at the end of the block, drooled over the menu, realized it was a Cash Only place, went to the convenient store down the street to pull out money, and then return to order our food. It sounds like a pain in the ass, but it was totally worth it.

My friend tried their Special of the Day (Alligator Andouille) and I had a good ol’ fashioned Polish dog. They weren’t as big as the Coscto hot dogs, but they were really delicious. Talk about gourmet hot dogs–they weren’t kidding!

We wolfed those suckers down, talked about how good it was, and then returned back to work fat and happy.

We’ll be going again soon, I promise. You should too.

Day One in Seattle : Pike’s Market and Shopping!

On my first day in Seattle, my parents took us to Pike’s Market and then to University Village to check out H&M, American Apparel, and Buffalo Exchange. Kimi had kettle korn from a street vendor at Pike’s, I saw a bunch of people sunbathing on the grass (reminded me of nice fall days at GW), and my little sister got a pretty pink princess headband thingy majiggy.

I realize I have a lot of photos, so I will post them over the course of several days (and several blog entries).

Guess Who’s Back?

Just got back from Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. It was a short, but definitely needed vacation. Kimi got to meet my parents and I got to spend some quality time with my little sister. Plus, there was a bit of shopping. My mom made me all my favorite foods and nobody commented on how chubby I am now. What a great vacation!

I’m sorting through my pics now, but I’ll post ‘em up soon. I’m going to ask Kimi if she wants to post some of her favorite NYC pics here too.

In other news, I’ve started a personal blog/tumblelog. The purpose of it is slightly different than this site. My tumblelog really just follows my life through pictures, videos, quotes, text, etc. I started it while I was up in Seattle, so see what you were missing HERE!

Coming Up: Pictures from Seattle and NYC!
