I’m Back

Man oh man, it’s been a busy and yet unproductive month. I had been sick for the past month or so, so I’ve been hiding under a rock for quite some time. I’m finally getting my energy back, though, and getting into the swing of things once again. My stomach condition really screws up everything sometimes.

Anyway, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I started a Project 365 last year on Election Day. One picture a day for the next year. Sometimes I cheat and several pictures cover a few days, but for the most part, I’m decent at staying on top of this (which also means lots of last minute pictures of my cat). I thought I’d post what I have so far to hold you over for now.

Pictures from Downetowne’s 2 Year Anniversary Party at Bar35!

Despite having some major camera problems, I had a great time at the Downetowne party this past Saturday at Bar35! I don’t know what happened, but about an hour into shooting, my flash went dead. I changed out the batteries, but it wouldn’t even turn on. Then my lens took way too long to focus, so I got all irritated, put my camera away, and danced with my friends instead.

I’ve got about a week to figure out what to do about my camera. I’ll be attending my first lesbian wedding ceremony this weekend and I promised to take some pictures. I think I’m just going to buy a new body. Anybody have lots of money to share with me?

Project 365

I started my Project365 on Election Day 2008. I voted and later celebrated Obama’s win–I thought it would be the perfect day to start this project. On some days, I’d snap tons of pics and have to sift through everything. On other days, I’d struggle to get that one shot.

As an amateur photographer it really pushes you to think outside the box, think about what you’re shooting, and how you’re going to shoot it. It’s really great practice for me. I think periodically I’ll post my progress here, if anything, so you can see how my year is going.

Project 365 – And So It Begins…

Bought myself a Flickr Pro account the other day and have been slowly transferring all of my Slowdancing With Strangers photos into nicely organized sets on Flickr.

I just started Project365 and will be posting my photos for you here and on Flickr. I recommend checking out the set on Flickr because you can see all Project365 photos in one place and can also read the notes I’ve added to each photo.

The purpose of Project365 is simple. I’ll be taking one picture a day for the next 365 days and include why I’ve chosen that picture to represent that day. Since I started on Tuesday, Election Day, I’ll show you what I have so far!

1/365 - And So It Begins. It's Time for Change.

1/365 – I started my 365 project today because it’s election day and I’m proud to say I voted.

Woke up early this morning and headed to the polling place, marked in my votes, tore off the stub (as seen in the picture), and fed my ballot into the machine. Watched both McCain’s and Obama’s speeches this evening and felt proud to be part of the process.

I’m ready for change, so I thought today would be a good day to start this project.

2/365 - Hairscapes and my Hairycut

2/365 – My day ended at Hairscapes in Manoa while I waited for Kimi to finish work. Took a quick shot in the back of the salon where I’ve dosed off on more than one occasion while my hair color is processing.

I spend more time here than I do at home, it seems.
