My 2008 Year in Review!
It’s 7:24pm and I can hear the fireworks booming from across the freeway. At midnight it’s going to be crazy, I just know it. All the smoke is making me cough like crazy. As some of you might know, I have bronchitis (again) and still suffering.
It really doesn’t feel like New Year’s Eve…whatever that’s supposed to feel like. New Year’s just doesn’t feel like it did when I was a kid.
Anyway, I’ve decided to do a photo summary for 2008. I’ve grabbed my favorite photos from this past year to help welcome in 2009. Enjoy!
Kicked off 2008 with Downetowne at their Masquerade. Was skinnier and got to wear a tux. Very stoked.

Schemes and Consequences was featured on Olelo’s Talent Hawaii.

Went to the Punahou Carnival and like year after year, it was muddy!

I also got bronchitis (which sadly I have now).

Enjoyed (on more than one occasion) Chemisstry’s Drag Show!

Kimi got her first tattoo!

Smart Magazine asked me to photograph the Next Movement at Next Door.

The crowd loved them!
There was a lovely fashion show after the Spacifics’ performance.

Downetowne’s Summer Lovin’ Party meant cute retro outfits!
And fun Deena!

And lots and lots of candid photos from the party.

Kimi celebrated her 24th birthday at Bar35.

Group shot!

Roobs re-opened Casa at the Loft and was able to grab some great flicks.

Kelii Grace of Kai Media was on deck to record the action.

September came quicker than I thought. The theme was “Switch” and Roobs is showing off her fake pubes.

Aww! Look at Shannon and her bow tie!

Helena and I prove to all of youtube that we are, in fact, girls.

Kimi threw me one helluva surprise 25th birthday party. With guitar hero!

Kimi and Nobin!

Kelii rapped for me!

My two best friends from high school.

October marked Downetowne’s pre-Halloween event, Thriller. The theme was to dress as something you fear. So naturally, I went as milk (because I’m lactose intolerant). Someone actually asked if I was scared of boobs! Kimi went as the dark!

My favorite part of this party? Indica. Her performance was 10x better than last year’s (and that one was amazing too).

Very creative costumes!

Although I think McCain and Palin stole the show.

The following week, Kimi and I jetted to Seattle to visit my parents. My little sister, KeliiAnn, loved her.

at Pike’s Market.

Spent some quality time with my mom.

a cute father/daughter moment.

Halloween I went to Tsukiji’s with some friends.

I went as Hiro Nakamura. Not much of a stretch, I know.

In November, I voted! A very proud moment. I also started my Project365 on this day.

I also was asked to document Gregory House Programs’ Kahu Malama dinner at HiSAM to honor Sen. Daniel Akaka.

This year for Thanksgiving, I cooked ham! Caroline, Helena, and Amanda came over and they brought lots of food. Food coma for days.
Finally, for Christmas, I turned Chompers into a lolcat from I Can Has Cheezeburger.

I know you can't see my face, but I figure most people will recognize me as the big cheeks behind the camera. My name is Kristel. This blog, much like my life, is a work in progress. I take pictures at events around town and I'm big on candid photos. Nice to meet you.
